Sun-drenched cliffs and vibrant villages cascade into the azure Atlantic on Madeira's north coast. Madeira is frequently described as the Island of Eternal Spring. It is an attractive phrase, but it only begins to explain the destination. The island’s mild climate is certainly part of its appeal. Yet what stayed with me after my recent visit was not simply the weather. It was the contrast: volcanic mountains rising dramatically from the Atlantic, immaculate gardens beside rug
